Xboxedin Review Policy

We focus on giving clear, grounded impressions of how a game plays on Xbox. We talk about gameplay, controls, performance, accessibility options, and the overall experience. We keep things straightforward so players can quickly tell whether the game is right for them.

Review Score Guide

We rate games from 1 to 5, keeping things simple and readable.

5 Excellent. Easy to recommend. Does almost everything well and feels special.

4 Very good. Strong experience with a few small issues that don’t drag it down.

3 Decent. Has good moments but also clear flaws. Worth a look for certain players.

2 Rough. Some potential but too many problems to ignore.

1 Poor. Barely works or fails in most areas. Not worth your time.

What We Cover

We review:

• Full releases

• Game Pass additions

• Smaller indie titles

• Major updates or expansions

• Older games when they receive meaningful improvements

Whether it’s a AAA blockbuster or a small passion project, if people are playing it on Xbox, we’re happy to look at it.

How We Get Games

We buy our own copies or use Game Pass. If a publisher provides a code, we say so at the bottom of the review. Free codes never affect what we write. If a game is bad, it’s bad.

Playtime Expectations

We play enough of the game to give a fair and honest verdict. That usually means finishing it, but some games are too long or open ended for that to be realistic. In those cases, we put in the hours needed to understand how it really plays day to day. We will state if we haven’t finished a game and state how long we played for. In basic terms we play complete games unless said otherwise.

Platform Details

All reviews are based on Xbox versions of the game. We’ll note things like performance differences between Series X, Series S, and cloud versions when relevant.

Updates and Re-Reviews

If a game gets major patches or fixes that change the experience, we update the review or publish a fresh one. A bad launch doesn’t mean a game can’t improve later.
